Barea debe ser el armador regular del equipo nacional

Solamente el hecho de que J.J Barea sea el único jugador puertorriqueño en la NBA le debe asegurar el puesto de armador del equipo nacional sobre Carlos "el latin Mossad" Arroyo. Nadie se entera de lo que hace Arroyo en Israel. No creo la teoría de que se fue por el dinero. Por que aunque ganara menos jugando en la NBA recibiria sus endorsos fuera de la cancha. Quien va a endorsar a Arroyo ahora... 'Kosher Pita Bread Company' y 'Malta Hummus'... Se fue por que era un malcriao' en la NBA y no daba el grado. A su cambio, Barea sigue poniendo el nombre de Puerto Rico en alto. José Juan mejora cada día y cuando le dieron una oportunidad como abridor hizo su trabajo.

Es como si Ricky Martin pegara una canción en EU y saliera en todos los noticieros poniendo la bandera monoestrellada en alto y después se vaya de gira por el mundo y no vuelva a América con un nuevo 'hit single' y tenga gemelos creados en un 'test tube' y se dedique a criarlos y Puerto Rico se divida en las respuestas a preguntas como : Que va a pasar cuando unos de los nenes pregunte 'Papá donde está mamá'? O no. Puerto Rico esta aburrido. Perdonen la semántica de este blog. Pero es que es triste cuando estos son los comentarios que se escuchaban en fiestas familiares navideñas.

Barea sigue abusando en la NBA. J.J. sigue aprovechando al máximo el tiempo de cancha que le han dado. Donde está Arroyo? Barea debe ser el nuevo armador del equipo nacional. Ok, quizas estoy exagerando pero Barea está sacando la cara por los boricuas en la NBA. Exito, JJ.

J.J. Barea continued his inspiring play for the Mavericks, scoring 21 points before fouling out. He had a fourth-quarter stretch of 11 straight points created, eight by himself—including a drive at Duncan and another around Parker—and a drive-and-dish feed to Kidd for a 3-pointer.

Jose Barea saw the shot clock running down and a small opening toward the basket.


The 6-foot guard drove down the baseline, challenged a pair of much taller defenders and spun in an improbable reverse layup with his left hand that rolled around the rim before finally going in.

It's been that kind of week for Barea.

Barea scored 16 of his season-high 22 points in the third quarter and the Dallas Mavericks held on late after nearly losing a 19-point lead, beating the Atlanta Hawks 100-98 on Saturday night for their ninth win in 10 games.

"It's just been great just being out there with the guys," Barea said. "Winning has been the most important thing. My confidence gets higher and higher."

Barea, who saw only sporadic playing time before this week, has played a key role in the first three games of a seven-game homestand -- Dallas' longest of the season.

He hit the winning 3-pointer Tuesday to beat the Los Angeles Clippers and then scored 18 points in his first start of the season two days later, a lopsided victory over Phoenix.

Barea capped a memorable week with his best performance since scoring a career-high 25 points last November 3.

"I'm a believer that anything is possible," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. "Would I have predicted it? No."

Barea was 7-of-9 from the floor in the third, and Dallas outscored Atlanta 33-16 in the quarter to take a 15-point lead.

Atlanta led 43-41 at halftime before Barea and the Mavericks responded in the third.

Barea scored eight points in an 11-2 run that put Dallas up 74-59 heading into the final quarter.

The 6-foot Puerto Rican guard opened the fourth with a pair of baskets. One of those was the reverse layup that brought Nowitzki and his teammates up off the bench.

"I thank God that shot went in," Barea said.

Nowitzki, Barea lead Mavs past Suns

The Mavs have a good chance to keep climbing with the next five games at home. And they might’ve found a spark from the new wrinkle of pairing 5-foot-11 backup point guard J.J. Barea in the lineup with Jason Kidd. Sometimes they’ve even gone to a three-point-guard lineup with Terry joining them.

Carlisle used that in the fourth quarter when Phoenix got within 10. Barea then scored or set up every point in a 10-0 run. Soon after, he nailed a 3-pointer that pushed the lead to 23 and punctuated it with a loud scream drowned out by a roar from fans already on their feet.

“When you have confidence you can do anything and his confidence is high right now,” Kidd said of Barea.

“He’s fearless,” added Nowitzki. “He’s small, but for some reason he’s a great finisher in there. He gets to the seams. I just really like that he’s in attack mode.”

Barea, who earned the start by hitting the winning shot in the final minute of the previous game, finished with a season-best 18 points. Terry scored 19, continuing his strong play off the bench to make up for the scoring punch lost by Josh Howard being out with an ankle injury. Dallas is 6-1 in the seven straight games he’s missed.

Although these teams no longer score like they used to, the Mavericks did a good imitation of their former selves in the first half, scoring 33 points in the first quarter and a season-best 64 by halftime.

The Suns kept up with the pace the first 11 1/2 minutes, then Dallas broke the game open with a 21-4 spurt.
