This year the Annual Puerto Rico Salsa Congress celebrates its 15thanniversary. With the slogan “15 Years – 15 Nights – 15 Fiestas,” the congress will take place at several venues with the main location being the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Other locations include Plaza del Mercado and Plaza de los Salseros in Santurce, and Latin Roots Restaurant & Club and Plaza Colón in Old San Juan. The Salsa Congress takes place between July 16 and July 30, 2011.
Every summer Puerto Rico gathers the world’s best salsa dancers, musicians, instructors, and bands to host an international congress that includes competitions, exhibitions, concerts, workshops, and street parties. This year the line-up of musicians include El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Roberto Roena and his Orquestra, Moncho Rivera and his Orquestra, VSP Orquestra, Puerto Rican Power, NG2, José Alberto “El Canario,” and many more. One of the major highlights of the congress is the World Salsa Open; participants from all over the word gather in Puerto Rico to compete for recognition as world class dancers.
