San Juan, Puerto Rico, April 2, 2011 – The Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation (FPV) has named a 25-man squad for the team's debut appearance in the FIVB World League.
Coach Carlos Cardona and his assistant Ramon Hernandez presented the list for the 2011 event which runs from May 27-July 10 – and which, for Puerto Rico, begins with a baptism of fire in the form of a home game with Pool A rivals Brazil on May 27-28 at Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan.
"We evaluated the different options to choose the 25 best talents available and they were included in the list submitted to the FIVB," said Elliot Matias, vice-president of the FPV.
Puerto Rico squad:
Setters: Angel Perez, Fernando Morales, Edgardo Goas, Javier Perez. Opposites: Hector Soto, Jean Carlos Ortiz, Steven Morales, Victor Bird
Middle Blockers: Enrique Escalante, Roberto Muniz, Daniel Eraso, Cristian Cruz, Ramon Burgos, Pedro Blasini
Outside Hitters: Victor Rivera, Jose Rivera, Juan Figueroa, Ivan Perez, Sequiel Sanchez, Ezequiel Cruz, Jore Lopez, Cristian Rivera
Liberos: Gregory Berrios, Denis Del Valle, Joel Rivera
